The Bucyrus Public Library hired LDA to provide complete project management services for a new addition and the existing building, which included a comprehensive reorganization of library collections and services. (In 1989, LDA had been retained for planning and furnishing of the children’s room renovation.)

The enlarged and renovated building now provides enhanced spaces for all services, with dedicated areas for adult reference, audiovisual, teens and genealogy. Seating capacity and collection storage have been increased and opportunities for the display of new and seasonal material have been added. A newly developed signage system assists patrons in navigating this multi-level facility.

The first floor is dedicated to adult services, with an emphasis on design continuity between the original historical building and the additions. A café/vending area is conveniently located adjacent to an adult periodical reading room. The second floor includes an expanded children’s area, with an integral story hour corner. The new teen area is self-contained and furnished with visually appealing shelving, table seating and booth space.
